What Mintgstone does, in plain language
Mintgstone is a photography studio based in Toronto's Queen West neighbourhood, serving couples, individuals, businesses, and event organizers across the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario. We specialize in four disciplines — wedding coverage, portrait sessions, commercial photography, and event documentation — and we approach all of them with the same documentary method: observe carefully, intervene minimally, and deliver images that feel like they were taken by someone who genuinely understood what was happening in the room. Since opening in 2017, we have completed more than 180 projects, including over 70 weddings, across venues ranging from intimate backyard ceremonies to large-scale events at Casa Loma and the Distillery District. Our client base spans independent professionals, growing hospitality brands, non-profit organizations, and couples from every background and community in the city. The rose-warm, naturally lit aesthetic that runs through our portfolio is not a filter or a preset — it is the result of choosing locations and times of day with deliberate care, and of editing with restraint.
How we work, and what to expect
Every project begins with a conversation — a phone call or email exchange where we establish what you need, what the event or session involves, and whether our approach is the right fit. We do not take on work where the client's expectations and our methodology are clearly misaligned; it produces poor results for everyone and we would rather say so early. Once a project is confirmed, we prepare in writing: a brief, a shot list, and a clear description of deliverables and timelines. Turnaround ranges from 3 weeks (commercial) to 6 weeks (weddings), and we communicate proactively if anything changes. We are a micro studio — currently two photographers and one post-processing specialist — which means the person you speak with before the project is the person on the ground on the day. We do not subcontract. The work benefits from that consistency, and so does the client relationship. Results always depend to some degree on conditions we cannot control: weather, venue lighting, how relaxed a subject feels. We cannot guarantee a specific image will exist, but we can guarantee we will be prepared, present, and honest about what is achievable.
